Welcome to Handmade Rockets, an independent film production company formed in 2016 that specialises in atmospheric visual storytelling, bringing imaginative science fiction, fantasy and horror stories to life.
Watch now:
TIMEFORT (2023) (Miniseries)
"A lone agent searches for the source of strange energy readings, not realising the peril he is about to face..."
Handmade Rockets were involved in the making of Timefort as part of a multimedia experience for the Goodwin Development Trust and features the acting talents of Katie Stones who plays the character "Ark" and Jed T.E. Rhodes who plays the austere "Midnight" in the series.
The series of three short films were released alongside the Tabletop game "Timefort Aeternia" and the RPG Maker game "Timefort 1555".
Alice, in the Alderman's Study (2019) (Short Film)
"In a future where time travel is a reality, the past can be changed, and people can be removed from history… for a price."
This short film actually began life as a concept for a scene in a larger collaboration project, however, we realised it had legs beyond that limited moment and works as a perfect example of visual story telling.
"Alice" was featured as part of the Goodwin Development Trust’s amazing Summer Shutdown Fest
The Circle (2018) (Short Film)
"The circle, magic circle, or sphere is a well-defined though non-physical temple. In much of Wicca today, rituals and magical workings take place within such a construction of personal power" ~ Scott Cunningham
This short film began as a simple visual FX test that impressed us so much that we just had to develop it further.
Midnight Oil (2018) (Short Film)
“In the depths of the night, a scientist working on a top secret project awakens and struggles to continue his work, unaware that he has opened a doorway to horrors unimaginable…”
This short film was made as a prequel to a larger project, Dire Gryke. With this film we wanted to show what we could achieve with a minimal budget before moving on to something more ambitious.
Legacy (2007) (Short Film - Restored 2020)
"On his thirtieth birthday a normal man discovers he has a secret legacy to fulfil."
This was originally a project that director A.K. Treasure undertook in 2007. It was during editing that his PC crashed, wiping all the original footage!
Only a rough-cut of the final film survived online, squashed to 4:3 ratio and with a temporary soundtrack. Now, thirteen years later, we've finally restored the footage to 16:9 ratio and created a whole new soundtrack, including original music from Jed T.E. Rhodes.
